Welcome to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department Unit-I at AIMC /JHL, where we prioritize women’s health with compassion and expertise. Our dedicated team of obstetricians and gynecologists offers comprehensive care spanning from pregnancy management, childbirth, and postpartum support in obstetrics, alongside specialized services in gynecology including diagnosis, treatment, and surgical interventions for a wide range of women’s health issues. We are committed to providing personalized care, innovative treatments, and a supportive environment tailored to meet the unique needs of every woman we serve.
Goals & Objectives
We aim to provide exceptional and compassionate care to pregnant women and their families throughout the continuum of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum recovery, while promoting positive birth outcomes and maternal wellbeing. Additionally, we are dedicated to provide comprehensive care for women’s reproductive health by offering high quality compassionate care through multi-disciplinary approach, addressing a wide range of issues from routine gynecological exams and family planning to complex surgical procedures and oncology. Our unit strives to enhance the overall health and well-being of woman from birth to senescence. We integrate advanced medical technologies and personalized patient care.

- To provide thorough prenatal assessments, screenings, and education to promote healthy pregnancies and early detection of any potential complications.
- To provide specialized care for pregnancies with medical complications, such as gestational diabetes, hypertension, multiple births, pregnancy with multiple scars, abnormal placentation.
- To offer a range of birth options and personalized care plans to accommodate the preferences and needs of expectant mothers.
- To ensure a smooth recovery for mothers and providing support for breastfeeding, emotional well-being, and early parenting skills..
- To contribute to the advancements in obstetric care through clinical research and the adoption of new technologies and practices.
- To provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of gynecological conditions and disorders.
- To perform advanced gynecological surgeries, including minimally invasive procedures, to treat conditions such as ovarian cysts, fibroids, and gynecological cancers.
- To offer contraception counseling, fertility evaluations, and management of menstrual disorders to support women’s reproductive health.
- To provide multidisciplinary care for gynecological cancers, including early detection, surgical oncology, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.
- To address pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, and other pelvic floor disorders through conservative management and surgical interventions.

We at Gynae Unit-I understand the importance of keeping up to date with the advancing medical knowledge and hence, improving patient care. Our comprehensive research activities encompass clinical trials, epidemiological studies, experimental research focused on pregnancy outcomes, reproductive health and innovative treatment modalities.
- Unit research advisory board conducts monthly meetings to help our residents in their synopsis and thesis, and to review their research activities
- Journal Club sessions are held monthly to discuss new publications and to promote research by discussing recent scientific literature and advancements
- New research from international journals is presented daily by our residents in the morning class to inspire new ideas and collaborations.
- 16 research projects are being currently carried out by our dynamic faculty. Post-graduate residents are currently working under the supervision of Professor Tayyiba Wasim, fostering a culture of continuous learning
- International trials are being conducted in our unit that are as follows:
- WOMAN-2 (tranexamic acid for the prevention of Post-partum bleeding in women with anemia; and international, randomized, double blind, placebo controlled trial )
- IM WOMAN ( tranexamic acid by IM/IV for prevention of post-partum hemorrhage in woman at increased risk )
