Prof.Dr. Farhat Naz is the professor and Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Unit I) at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. She is a graduate of Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Lahore. Being the finest and unsurpassed graduate of FJMC, she received thirteen medals inclusive President Gold Medal. She passed FCPS in Gynae and Obstetrics in 1998 from the College of Physician and Surgeons. After that, she started serving at various public sector medical colleges and attached hospitals as a teacher and mentor. She joined as the professor of Gynae Unit III at Allama Iqbal Medical College in September 2018. She is putting enormous efforts in revamping the unit and related facilities. She is also the author of 26 notable research papers. Apart from being the member of AIMC Skill Lab committee, she is also serving as the Chairperson of Curriculum Committee AIMC and online teaching/learning committee of Allama Iqbal Medical College.

The department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Unit I) at Allama Iqbal Medical College is highly recognized for under graduate teaching by the University of Health Sciences (UHS) and post graduate teaching and training by CPSP and RCOG. The department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Unit I) at Allama Iqbal Medical College affiliated with Jinnah Hospital, Lahore is a leading reproductive health facility of the city. It caters the teaching and learning needs of more than 700 undergraduate and 80 postgraduate medical students, and about 30-35 BS nursing students. There are small group interactive teaching sessions and teaching rounds. Similarly, OPD and OT teaching and training sessions are held twice a week live on patients.

In addition to polishing skills and capacity building workshops, statistical, maternal mortality and clinical audit meetings are also organized on regular basis. The students as well as the residents are trained and monitored with workplace based assessment and feedback. The department is ambitious for providing the best care and health services to the patients and is working efficiently by observing virtues and values to serve humanity in the best ways possible.

  • Diagnosis: Gynae Unit I is providing following clinical and diagnostic services twice a week.
  • OPD: Services are provided through seven clinics which are; routine and high risk antenatal, postnatal, birth spacing, general gynaecology, infertility, endocrinology and menopause, urogynae and gynaecological oncology clinics.
  • OT: This facility is delivered twice a week for all sorts of low and high risk patients for complicated obstetrics and gynecological problems, urogynecology and cancer surgery.
  • Indoor: Our indoor offers admission facility to about 60 to 70 patients with 5-bedded HDU and 4-bedded KMC facilities. RMO/Residents are present 24/7 for the management of indoor and labor room patients. Qualified SR is present in obstetric emergency area i.e., labor room and GEOT on emergency days as per schedule.
