Dr. Sajida Malik is the Professor and Head of the Pharmacology Department at Allama Iqbal Medical Collage Lahore. She is an aspiring graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical Collage Lahore, where she is now proudly serving. She started her teaching career in Pharmacology as Demonstrator at Services Institute of Medical Sciences in 2005. She completed M.Phil. Pharmacology from Post Graduate Medical Institute Lahore in 2011. Later, she served as Assistant Professor and Associate professor of Pharmacology at S.I.M.S. Lahore. She has been performing her duties as Professor of Pharmacology at A.I.M.C. since 2019. So far, she has published 10 research papers under her name in various national Journals. During her professional career, she has attended various clinical workshops and presented papers at various prestigious forums. She has a long-term vision and ambition to improvise the standards of education and establish one of the best departments of medical teaching.
The Department of Pharmacology is the part of a distinguished faculty of Allama Iqbal Medical College. Pharmacology is a discipline of medical science which deals with all aspects of drugs. The primary academic objective of the department is to educate undergraduate medical students of third year M.B.B.S. regarding fundamental knowledge of drugs and train them in rational use of drugs. Teaching the subject of Pharmacology to the students of Allied medical sciences like B.S. Nursing, D.P.T. and Dispensers is additional responsibility of the department. The department has quality material and human capacities that would help out accomplishing its tasks. A wide range of methods such as lectures, small group discussions and interactive sessions are used for teaching.
The department, along with a team of highly qualified faculty members, houses two well-equipped laboratories with experimental devices to teach experimental Pharmacology. The latest equipment of Power Lab and Audio – visual aids is in pipe line. There is a separate research lab equipped with Guinea pig table, Respiration pump, Guinea pig operation box, Kymograph for dog, Stimulator, Electrical Sterior and incubator etc. There are spacious and well–resourced lecture halls and tutorial rooms to carry out different academic activities. Most recently, a museum has been set up in the Department where specimens for Pharmacognosy are displayed. The core curriculum and syllabus approved by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council and Higher Education Commission of Pakistan is followed to provide quality pre-clinical and clinical education in the discipline of Pharmacology and Therapeutics. The Department of Pharmacology is proud of its stature in the faculty of Allama Iqbal Medical Collage.
