Dr. Tanvir-us-Salam is professor and Head of Medical Unit I and Dean of Medicine at Allama Iqbal Medical College affiliated with Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. He has over 25 years of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience and clinical experience in Pakistan and abroad. During his eminent career, he has attended many educational workshops and delivered guest lectures in many conferences and preparatory courses. Moreover, he has trained and supervised many undergraduate and postgraduates serving across the world.
Medical Unit I is one of the four medical units of department of Medicine at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore providing 24/7 emergency cover and state of the art indoor and outdoor services. Medical Unit I is a dynamic department with a diverse faculty composition and has a total capacity of 55 beds, divided in four respective bays and a highly equipped HDU comprising of 5 beds. Precise diagnosis and specialist level treatment ensure speedy recovery for our patients. Empathy and understanding are practiced in every interaction between patients and doctors. Department of Medical Unit I is recognized by College of Physician and Surgeons Pakistan for fellowship training in Medicine and University of Health sciences for MD Program. During training regular CPCs and journals clubs are conducted. Our department acts as a home for research and many research articles have been published in national international journals and many more are in progress. The esteemed JAIDE (Endocrinology) department is also being run by our faculty, where one doctor examines one patient in the examination room under supervision of a senior faculty member.
- In addition to professional training, our department provides a great deal of patient care. We offer Outdoor, Indoor and emergency department services round the clock.
- Hundreds of patients are treated with different conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension, Chronic Liver Disease and its complications, Chronic Kidney Disease and its complications, Congestive Cardiac Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Asthma and many more.
- Our department is equipped with Ultrasound machine, CPAP, ECG machine and Cardiac monitors to provide immediate management to our patients.
- JAIDE (Jinnah and Allama Iqbal institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology) has been established. It has a reputation as a state of the art endocrinology center to which patients are referred from, all over the Punjab.
- Moreover, Medical Unit I is providing therapeutic and diagnostic endoscopic procedures to the patients of liver and gastrointestinal diseases.
