Dr. Farhat Naz is the professor and Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Unit III) at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. She is a graduate of Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Lahore. Being the finest and unsurpassed graduate of FJMC, she received thirteen medals inclusive President Gold Medal. She passed FCPS in Gynae and Obstetrics in 1998 from the College of Physician and Surgeons. After that, she started serving at various public sector medical colleges and attached hospitals as a teacher and mentor. She joined as the professor of Gynae Unit III at Allama Iqbal Medical College in September 2018. She is putting enormous efforts in revamping the unit and related facilities. She is also the author of 26 notable research papers. Apart from being the member of AIMC Skill Lab committee, she is also serving as the Chairperson of Curriculum Committee AIMC and online teaching/learning committee of Allama Iqbal Medical College. The committee has initiated and is successfully continuing the online MBBS teaching programme for the under graduates which is indeed a landmark for the institution.
Obstetrics and Gynecology Unit III was established in June 2009. Since inception, it is taking part in evidence based patient care in the ever challenging field of obstetrics and gynecology. The unit serves in a 70-bedded ward and has a state of the art class room having excellent audio visual facilities and seating capacity of more than 100 students. Improving women’s health, training of medical students and research is central to our academic role.
Our department runs a comprehensive structured training program for undergraduate and postgraduate students in affiliation with UHS and CPSP. The program comprising of regular presentations, interactive sessions, ward rounds, workshops, research and development, journal club meetings, surgical skills and regular formative & summative assessment of PGRs. Apart from guest lectures, workshops, saminars an Annual postgraduate course is conducted to sharpen skills of future gynaecologists. Our mission is to achieve excellence in patient care, professional education, and research which encompasses comprehensive health care needs of women and eventually full spectrum specialty services in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Gynae Unit III is providing services to admitted patients in ward and labor room round the clock.
- It is offering two emergency, two OPD days and two elective operation lists per week.
- Apart from routine OBGY cases, we deal with complicated, critical and near miss cases referred from all areas of Punjab.
- A wide range of elective surgical procedures are offered to the patients including gynae oncology, suspension procedures for prolapse, infertility and endoscopy.
- Apart from routine checkup, our OPD services include infertility clinic, cancer screening programs and high risk pregnancy clinics.
