Department of Neurosurgery of Allama Iqbal Medical College at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore is a leading centre for neurosurgical patient care, postgraduate training and research. It has emerged to be a prominent institute of excellence in a very short span of time, rapidly grown to become a top-notch center in terms of patient care, teaching and clinical research. Our main area of pride has been the development of the Neurosurgery driven Neurocritical Care Unit. It has profoundly influenced the outcome in patients of severe traumatic brain injury. We are a level 1 trauma center serving a wide geographical area. Another distinguishing feature is the state of the art operation theater suite, fully equipped with all the modern neurosurgical tools. Among many of them the hall marks are the facilities such as our intraoperative CT scan and Neurosimulation for training of our residents ( the only department in the country to have either of these).

We have a patient centered approach and our motto is ‘WE CARE’. We prepare them for the life ahead and educate their families about the disease and long-term requirements. Our compassion and empathy are stoked by the fact that a vast majority of our patients are from the under privileged section of the society. We believe in fostering a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, and delivering to patients the best possible experiences and outcomes.

  • 24/7 emergency services are available for craniospinal trauma management with an expert team providing dedicated surgical and neurocritical care for a wide spectrum of traumatic pathologies including extradural hematomas, subdural hematomas, depressed fractures and spinal trauma
  • We are at the forefront for management of brain tumors offering the latest image guided navigation tools and cutting edge instruments for management of brain tumors
  • Unparalleled advanced diagnosis and treatment for cerebrovascular diseases including microsurgical clipping of aneurysms and excision of arteriovenous malformation
  • We have fully incorporated the use of endoscope in surgical care of pituitary, brain and spinal cord pathologies
  • Disorders like meningomyelocele, hydrocephalus, spina bifida and tethered cord are routinely managed
  • We offer ranging from microdiscectomies to a full array of complex spinal instrumentation
