Dr. Ahsan Nasim is currently serving as Associate Professor and Head Surgical Unit IV at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. He is a graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore. He is a Fellow in General Surgery from the College of Physician and Surgeons, Pakistan since 2002. He did MCPS in Health Professional Education from CPSP in 2019.  He holds the honor of studying and serving in AIMC since November 1990. During his stay in AIMC, he has served in all surgical units at various faculty and administrative positions. He is an active member of both undergraduate and post graduate teaching and training. Currently, he is additionally serving as Director Laparoscopic Theater, Jinnah Hospital Lahore and in charge AIMC auditorium. Dr. Ahsan is also a supervisor and examiner from CPSP and UHS for FCPS and MS programs. His hard work and untiring efforts in revamping the infrastructure and academic schedules of Surgical Unit IV are remarkable and outstanding. He has multiple research publications in Surgery and Medical Education to his credit. To contribute to the Department of Medical Education at AIMC, Dr. Ahsan Nasim initiated the faculty development program at AIMC and holds the post of Chairman FDP, AIMC. He has the honor of being part of various academic and administrative committees at AIMC with significant contribution as member in Ethical Review Board AIMC, committee for online teaching, Sheheen Mall and Jinnah Hospital renovation committee.

A comprehensive and structured training program for undergraduate students and postgraduate residents in affiliation with UHS and CPSP is followed at Surgical Unit IV, Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. The department is committed for training future leaders in surgery in a collaborative and collegial environment led by dedicated and distinguished supervisors. Our program strives for an exciting and progressive environment that fosters the intellectual development of residents, house officers and students. We care about each in­dividual in our program and view each resident as a valuable member of our surgical community. We strongly believe that effective supervision is the only way to ensure the delivery of a safe and competent surgeon to the society. Our teaching program includes teaching on rounds, weekly case presentations, topic presentations and general club, short case and long case presentation, surgical skills workshops, regular formative & summative assessment of PGRs, weekly morbidity mortality meeting and monthly clinical audit. Our future aim is to expand and improve the professional possibilities of clinical profiles.

  • Currently, the department is serving a 36 hours per week of emergency, twice a week OPD and two elective operation lists per week. Our team provides a variety of emergency as well as elective services in General Surgery.
  • Emergency services include trauma, abdominal surgical emergencies and initial management to Orthopedic, Urological and Neurosurgical patients. We also intend to initiate emergency Laparoscopic Surgery Services in near future.
  • Elective procedures include all General Surgical Procedures with special interest in Oncology surgery. The Department also offers wide variety of basic and advanced laparoscopic procedures and bariatric surgery.
