Dr. Shafiq Cheema is the Professor and Head of the Department of Nephrology right here at Jinnah Hospital. After graduating the top of his class as the Most Distinguished Graduate of King Edward, he moved to America to complete his residency in Internal Medicine & fellowships in Nephrology & Transplant Nephrology. Here, his diligent and dedicated performance led him to be awarded with both the FACP (Fellow American College of Physicians) and FASN (Fellow American Society of Nephrology) fellowship. His continued success led him to be awarded as America’s Top Physician in both 2008 and 2011. He is a Diplomat American Board of Nephrology (USA) and Internal Medicine (USA). He was the former Medical Director at Fresenius Medical Care as well as former President of the Hope Kidney Clinic in Texas. He was also the former Chief of Medicine at Laredo Medical Center. He left his entire career in America and returned to Pakistan to apply his knowledge to help the people of his own beloved country. Even now, his love, passion, and dedication to help others and make a change has not faltered, and he continues to be a role model and beacon of hope to many. The Department of Nephrology and Hypertension, an exciting and growing field, is where we diagnose and treat all sorts of kidney diseases. - Fellowship Program: The Department of Nephrology, Jinnah Hospital Lahore is recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan for FCPS and UHS for MD training. Currently 16 residents are under training in our prestigious department.

- Kidney Dialysis & Transplantion:We have a 50 stationed dialysis unit, an actively running peritoneal dialysis program, pre- and post- renal transplant services, PHOTA approved active kidney transplantation program, thrice weekly outpatient services, and in-patient consultation.
- Renal Biopsy & HD catheter Placement: We also provide in-patient dialysis, perform renal biopsies and place dialysis catheters on a daily basis.
