Dr. Kausar Bano is a competent Assistant Professor and the Head of the Department of Oncology at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. She graduated from Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Lahore. She did her Internal Medicine Residency from General Hospital, Lahore and then completed FCPS in Medical Oncology from Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. She started her career as an Assistant Professor of Oncology at Shalamar Hospital, Lahore in 2014. She has been serving the department of Oncology since 2016 and has recently taken the charge as the Head of the Department. She has done clinical attachment in Bone Marrow Transplant Centers in Dresden, Leipzig, Berlin and Rostock (Germany). In addition to that, she has also acquired research expertise in ACCORD, Australia. She has numerous noteworthy publications to her credit. She has attended multiple international conferences and presented at various prestigious forums. Under her effective management and unique expertise, the department of Oncology is on the road to make its exceptional mark in the history of Jinnah Hospital, Lahore.
Medical oncology is a dynamic and emerging field where we diagnose and treat all kinds of hematological and solid malignancies under kind supervision of trained specialists. Oncology Department was established at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore in 1995. It has a 60-bedded Indoor Unit. Oncology OPD runs four days a week. The department is providing facilities such as chemotherapy, supportive therapy, indoor and outdoor treatment, and oncological emergency management to more than 3500 patients every month not only from all over Pakistan but also from Afghanistan. The department is aimed to provide the patients the best cancer treatment as per international standards and improve their quality of life.
- Fellowship Program: The Department of Oncology, Jinnah Hospital Lahore is recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan for FCPS and UHS for MD training. Our department is also recognized for rotational training for a period of two months as a part of the medicine residency program.
- Academics and Research: Formal presentations, Journal clubs, grand rounds, research methodology and updated guidelines are discussed on a regular basis.
- House Job: Our department also offers 3 months rotation for house job.
- CML Clinic: A program for the patients of chronic Myeloid Leukemia is being run in our department which is largest and oldest center of CML all over Pakistan.
- Chemotherapy Bay: Outpatient Chemotherapy is offered to the range of 50 to 100 patients on daily basis.
