Professor Fawad is a distinguished Endocrinologist and Academic Leader, currently serving as the Head of the Department of Endocrinology at Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore, with a clinical experience of more than 15 years. He holds prestigious qualifications, reflecting his commitment to clinical excellence and medical education.
With a career spanning over two decades, Professor Fawad has contributed significantly to the field of Endocrinology through his patient-centered care, Postgraduate training, and Scholarly work. His academic interests include Diabetes, Thyroid disorders, Metabolic bone disease, and the advancement of medical education. Under his leadership, the department continues to thrive as a center of excellence in clinical practice, research, and training.

The Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes is a dynamic and integral part of our institution, dedicated to the comprehensive care of patients with hormonal and metabolic disorders. The department provides specialized services in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of a wide range of endocrine conditions including Diabetes Mellitus, Thyroid disorders, Adrenal and Pituitary diseases, calcium and bone metabolism disorders, and disorders of growth and puberty.
The department runs a busy daily outpatient clinic, inpatient consultations, and emergency call services, ensuring round-the-clock care for endocrine and diabetic patients. We follow evidence-based protocols and adopt a multidisciplinary approach to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
In addition to clinical excellence, the department is actively involved in postgraduate training, academic teaching, and research. Accredited for FCPS training in Endocrinology, offer structured learning programs, clinical rotations, and regular academic activities including case discussions, journal clubs, and workshops to groom the next generation of endocrinologists.
Under the leadership of Professor Fawad, the department continues to strive for excellence in clinical services, education, and research, aligning with national and international standards.
Goal:
- To provide excellence in the clinical care, education, and research of endocrine and metabolic disorders, with a special focus on diabetes, through a patient-centered, evidence-based, and academically enriched environment.
Objectives:
1. Clinical Excellence
- Deliver comprehensive, timely, and ethical care for patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders.
- Maintain a high standard of outpatient, inpatient, and emergency endocrine services.
- Promote early diagnosis, prevention, and holistic management of diabetes and other hormonal disorders.
- Education & Training
- Provide structured postgraduate training leading to FCPS (Endocrinology) certification.
- Organize regular academic activities including case-based discussions, journal clubs, clinical audits, and CME workshops.
- Foster clinical reasoning, professionalism, and lifelong learning in trainees and medical students.
2. Research & Innovation
- Encourage faculty and trainees to engage in clinical and educational research.
- Promote publications and presentations in national and international forums.
- Develop and participate in research projects addressing local endocrine and diabetic health challenges.
3. Community Engagement
- Increase public awareness about diabetes and endocrine disorders through camps, education sessions, and media.
- Collaborate with primary care and allied specialties to strengthen referral systems and shared care models.
4. Quality Improvement
- Implement continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives in patient care and education.
- Regularly review clinical outcomes, patient feedback, and training assessments for departmental development.
