Prof. Dr. Sadaf Arooj is a seasoned radiologist and academic leader, currently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. A graduate of QMC, Bahawalpur, she earned her MBBS securing silver medals for first position in Surgery and ENT. She holds MCPS and FCPS in Diagnostic Radiology, along with Certifications in Medical Teaching (KEMU) and Medical Editing (UHS).
With over two decades of clinical experience across leading institutions—including KEMU/Mayo Hospital, Services Hospital and The Kidney Centre Karachi—she has played a pivotal role in strengthening postgraduate training. She currently oversees both FCPS and MD Radiology programs, focusing on academic mentoring, clinical competency, and modern imaging applications such as Interventional Radiology and AI in Radiology.
Prof. Sadaf has over 30 peer-reviewed national, international publications, and is actively involved in research, workshops, mock vivas and national radiology forums. Known for her dedicated teaching, clinical leadership, and forward-looking approach, she continues to inspire excellence in radiology practice and education.
Department of Diagnostic Radiology is a stop over for a large number of patients referred from almost every specialty that is known to exist, and from every corner of Punjab as it is in close proximity to Multan Road and Motorway. Services provided play an integral and ever increasing role in the diagnosis, monitoring treatment, sometimes offering management and often predicting outcome of disease in patients of different departments. It is managed by a dedicated, well trained, energetic and professional team, utilizing latest knowledge & technology, available round the clock and playing their part with multimodality approach for timely diagnosis of health issues & research projects. Our aim is to ensure quality diagnostic service delivery with care & respect and to properly train doctors in an environment that favors creativity & diversity.
Goals & Objectives
The Department provides 24/7 coverage for adult and pediatric emergencies, along with daily services in OPD and inpatient areas. Portable X-rays and ultrasounds are performed in ICU, HDU, labor room, nursery, and wards. Necessary Interventional radiology procedures are also offered
Available modalities include conventional and digital X-rays and 16-& 128 slice CT scans with advanced imaging features, 1.5T MRI, color Doppler ultrasound, and USG/CT-guided interventions.
Serving around half a million patients annually, the department ensures accurate, timely reporting with minimal wait times in a radiation-safe environment. It was ISO 9002 certified in 2009.
The department offers in-house jobs for AIMC and other medical graduates and is affiliated with CPSP and UHS, training residents in FCPS, MCPS, and MD programs. A supportive learning environment, frequent formative assessments (WBA, DOPS, Mini-CEX), and a Wi-Fi-enabled library promote academic growth.
As radiology intersects all specialties, the department plans ongoing upgrades to become a state-of-the-art center, committed to delivering the highest quality diagnostic services.

- Provide structured postgraduate training in FCPS and MD Radiology, ensuring academic, clinical, and research development with daily morning classes consisting of lectures, case presentations, journal clubs and mentorship.
- Conduct regular MBBS undergraduate classes, integrating core radiology concepts into clinical teaching.
- Actively participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions on weekly basis in collaboration with Surgery, Medicine, Gastroenterology and Oncology departments, enhancing case-based learning and collaborative care.
- Supervise and guide DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) students in imaging-related clinical understanding.
- Support the training of Radiography Techniques ( RGT) students through hands-on instruction and clinical exposure.
- Maintain a strong academic environment with interactive sessions, assessments, and exam preparation support across all programs.
The department actively promotes research and academic growth, encouraging trainees to participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences such as the Radiological Society of Pakistan (RSP) events. Residents regularly engage in research projects, present their work, and attend training sessions to enhance their knowledge and skills, fostering a culture of continuous learning and scientific inquiry.
