Currently, the department is headed by Prof. Dr. Nighat Majeed, with a team comprising of Senior Registrars, Medical officers, postgraduate residents and house officers. It is home to a number of trainees both FCPS and MD of medicine as well as allied fields who are working in providing patient care as well as learning through daily teaching rounds, case presentation, discussions, journal clubs and monthly assessments. In addition, it is also actively involved in teaching 3rd year, 4th year and final year students of Allama Iqbal Medical College both on-campus classes and medical rotations.
The unit is working in congruence with the vision and mission of the hospital and college to serve the ailing humanity with professionalism and ethics and to be the center of excellence in terms of medical education and research.
Medical unit-II is working as a part of Jinnah hospital and is affiliated with Allama Iqbal Medical College as a teaching unit. It is a 45 bedded facility with separate male and female wards and HDU. The unit is working in harmony with other medical units in providing healthcare services to patients needing care regarding gastroenterology, endocrinology, nephrology and neurology etc. The ward is giving round the clock indoor service to the admitted patients, 36 hours emergency service per week and twice weekly OPD.

- In addition to professional training, our department provides a great deal of patient care. We offer Outdoor, Indoor and emergency department services round the clock.
- Hundreds of patients are treated with different conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension, Chronic Liver Disease and its complications, Chronic Kidney Disease and its complications, Congestive Cardiac Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Asthma and many more.
- Our department is equipped with Ultrasound machine, CPAP, ECG machine and Cardiac monitors to provide immediate management to our patients.
- JAIDE (Jinnah and Allama Iqbal institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology) has been established. It has a reputation as a state of the art endocrinology center to which patients are referred from, all over the Punjab.
- Moreover, Medical Unit II is providing therapeutic and diagnostic endoscopic procedures to the patients of liver and gastrointestinal diseases.

- Research workshops are conducted on regular basis for postgraduate trainees.
- Under graduate and postgraduate classes are conducted on regular basis.
- House officer’s classes are conducted on regular basis.
- Ward faculty participate actively in symposium health at Allama Iqbal Medical college, Lahore, and across the town.
The postgraduate trainees working on different research projects under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nighat Majeed, Ward faculty, Assistant Professors and Senior Registrars are working and helping in research projects.
