Dr Shahid Sarwar is graduate of King Edward Medical College of 1996. He has done double fellowship in Medicine and Gastroenterology from College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). He has also accomplished Masters in Medical Education (MCPS-HPE) and is fellow of Royal College of Physicians Edinburg (UK). He has served as Assistant Professor in King Edward Medical University (KEMU) from 2007 to 2012 and then as Associate Professor in KEMU, Gujranwala Medical College and Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) from 2012 till 2020. Presently he is working as Professor of Medicine & Gastroenterology in AIMC since December 2020. He is also head of Gastroenterology Department in Jinnah Hospital.

He specializes in diseases related to Gastroenterology and Hepatology and is skilled in advanced procedures related to upper and lower GI endoscopy and ERCP. He is a renowned medical educationist as well who is actively involved with Pakistan Medical Council (PMC) and University of Health Sciences (UHS) in curriculum development. He has keen interest in research and publications as evident with more than 50 publications in international and national journals.

 

Medical Unit I is one of the five medical units of department of Medicine at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. Medical Unit II is a dynamic department with a diverse faculty composition and has a total capacity of 48 beds, divided in 4 respective bays and a highly equipped HDU comprising of 5 beds while also providing 24/7 emergency cover and state of the art indoor and outdoor services. Precise diagnosis and specialist level treatment ensure speedy recovery for our patients. Medical Unit-I is recognized by College of Physician and Surgeons Pakistan for fellowship training in Medicine and by University of Health sciences for MD Program in medicine. Medical unit I has a separate division of Gastroenterology in it with dedicated team of Gastroenterologists who are providing round the clock advanced endoscopy services in well-furnished endoscopy suits along with post graduate training in FCPS Gastroenterology and MD Gastroenterology.
During coaching, regular CPCs and journals clubs are conducted, and up to date tips are mentioned on a daily basis. Library and Computer Lab with internet connectivity throughout the department provides conducive setting for learning and analysis. Our department has published many articles in national and  international journals and many further are in progress.

Services provided by Medical Unit- 1

  • We offer Outdoor, Indoor and emergency department services for patients of Internal Medicine round the clock.
  • Daily hepatitis Clinic service with free testing and treatment facility for patients of chronic hepatitis.
  • Wide range of patients are treated with different conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension, Chronic Liver Disease and its complications, Chronic Kidney Disease and its complications, Congestive Cardiac Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Asthma and many more.
  • Our department is equipped with Ultrasound machine, CPAP, ECG machine and Cardiac monitors to provide immediate management to our patients.
  • Round the clock endoscopic services which include both diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy, colonoscopy and ERCP procedures with state of art equipment and trained team of endoscopists and support staff.
